Part 1 - Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how medicomedics ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects information about you when you use our website, mobile-friendly app and related services (the "Service").
1. Who we are
medicomedics is an online learning platform for medical students, residents and educators. You can contact us any time at info@medicomedics.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account data - name, email, password (hashed), profile picture, role and institution.
- Learning data - lectures viewed, MCQ answers, study plan progress, notes you create and groups you join.
- Payment data - handled by our payment processor; we receive only the information needed to manage your subscription.
- Technical data - device, browser, IP address, language, and pages viewed (used for security and analytics).
3. How we use your information
- To provide and personalise the Service (study plans, recommendations, progress).
- To manage your account, billing and customer support.
- To improve and secure the Service, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms.
- To send essential service messages and, with your consent, product updates.
4. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
We process personal data under: performance of a contract (your account and subscription), our legitimate interests (security, product improvement), your consent (marketing emails, optional cookies) and legal obligations (tax, accounting).
5. Sharing your information
We never sell your personal data. We share limited information with vetted processors that help us run the Service (hosting, email, payments, analytics) under strict data-processing agreements, and with authorities when legally required.
6. International transfers
Where data is transferred outside your region, we use Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
7. Data retention
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. After deletion we remove or anonymise personal data within 30 days, except where law requires us to keep it longer (for example billing records).
8. Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, object to certain processing and withdraw consent at any time. See the GDPR section below for how to exercise these rights.
9. Children
The Service is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from younger users.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email before they take effect.
Part 2 - GDPR & Your Data Rights
medicomedics complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR. This section summarises your rights and how to exercise them.
Your rights
- Access - request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification - correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure - ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restriction - limit how we process your data.
- Portability - receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection - object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent - at any time, where processing is based on consent.
- Complain - to your local supervisory authority.
How to make a request
Email info@medicomedics.com from the address on your account with the subject "GDPR request" and tell us which right you'd like to exercise. We may ask for proof of identity. We respond within 30 days (extendable by 60 days for complex requests, with notice).
Data controller
medicomedics is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. Contact: info@medicomedics.com.
Subprocessors
We use vetted processors for hosting, email, payments and analytics under data-processing agreements. A current list is available on request.
International transfers
Where data leaves the EEA / UK we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards approved by the European Commission / UK ICO.
Part 3 - Cookie Policy
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. medicomedics uses them to keep you signed in, remember preferences and understand how the Service is used.
Categories we use
- Strictly necessary - authentication, session, security. Cannot be disabled.
- Preferences - language, display options.
- Analytics - aggregated usage statistics to improve the Service.
- Marketing - only set with your explicit consent.
Managing cookies
You can change or withdraw consent at any time from your browser settings, or by clicking "Cookie preferences" in the site footer. Most browsers also allow you to block or delete cookies; doing so may affect Service functionality.
Third-party services
Some cookies are set by trusted third parties that help us operate (e.g. payments, analytics, video hosting). They process data under their own privacy policies and our data-processing agreements.
Advertising and embedded video partners
medicomedics does not display third-party advertising on the Service. We do embed educational videos hosted by YouTube (Google LLC). When an embedded video loads, YouTube may set cookies and process technical data (IP address, device information, viewing activity) under its own privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. This processing is required to deliver the video content and, where you are signed into a Google account, may be used by Google for its own advertising and personalisation purposes on Google properties - not on medicomedics.
If we ever introduce on-site advertising in the future, we will update this policy, request fresh consent through our cookie banner and, where required, use an IAB TCF-compliant consent management platform before any ad or measurement tag loads.
